Sequential Illustration
Every year a staggering 150 million seahorses are used in the Traditional Medicine Trade. Within the next 20 to 30 years, they could be extinct in the wild.
This project was about highlighting the issues surrounding seahorse’s use within the traditional medical field. In order to do this, I illustrated a mechanical seahorse using watercolour and ink, before having its components move through animation.

These are the individual components used to create the animation.

The original focal point for this project was the 'predawn dance', a courtship behaviour where the male and female lock tails and dance.

This illustration experiment was solely painted using a mixture of watercolour.
