What do I do?

I approach illustration with a passion for bringing characters and stories to life. A lover of storytelling and fantasy, there’s only one thing better than an awesome story full of badass characters, crazy quest lines and dramatic big bads. And that’s when it means something more.

An underlying theme in my work is the concept of bringing something to light for the reader, in a consumable way. When I discovered that there are 11 million deaf or hard of hearing people living in the the UK, and that only 6% of hearing adults knew BSL, I created a set of playing cards that encouraged the education of sign language. When I read that 1 in 5 teenagers struggle with mental health, I created a graphic novel designed to feel relatable and allow them storylines to overcome these issues. It isn’t just upsetting statistics that drive me; when working with Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, I was inspired by their passion for living history and found myself desperately wanting to relay that to people - to help them understand what it felt like to be walking amongst such a historical and integral part of Portsmouth. So I designed merchandise that would leave a lingering thought to living history.

What I do is design, draw, illustrate, colour and virtualise. Why I do what I do is to aid, educate, commemorate and inspire.
